APDT Foundation seeking 2022 posters , scholarships and grant submissions

APDT Foundation Background
The mission of the APDT Foundation is to provide funding for applied scientific research on dog training and behavior and to further increase the knowledge base of the dog training profession . The corporation is organized for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of 501 ( c ) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 . The 2022 APDT Foundation Board is Lynn Rives , president ; Lisa McCluskey , vice-president ; Suzanne Mackay , secretary-treasurer ; and trustees Sarah Anderson , Rhonda Feinberg , Ana Verissimo , Jennifer Brown , Heather Mishefske , Catherine Hancock , and Patricia Tirrell , immediate past president .
APDT Foundation : 2022 Poster Sessions
The APDT Foundation ( apdtfoundation . org ) is seeking submissions for poster presentation proposals from the academic ( faculty , students , researchers ) and professional ( dog trainers , shelter staff , veterinary staff , etc .) communities for the APDT / CAPDT Conference Oct . 19-21 in Daytona Beach , Florida . The goal is dissemination of research results to the dog training and behavior community . Posters will be presented and judged at the conference . Financial prizes will be awarded to the top posters . The deadline for poster submissions is May 22 , with poster notification by June 22 .
Successful posters will include all or some of the following : research related to dog behavior and training ; preliminary findings ; completed studies ; summaries of relevant published research and position papers . Examples of topics include behavior studies , effectiveness of training curricula and methods , shelter management protocols and business case studies . Poster winners will be invited to give a presentation at the conference . Watch for more information about poster criteria and requirements on the APDT Foundation website ( APDTFoundation . org ) or email info @ apdtfoundation . org . institution must be an accredited degree-granting college or university or non-profit research institution . Preference will be given to proposals that have practical application for trainers and behavior consultants and to proposals that include collaboration with the training and behavior community . Proposals that create canine science outreach and education opportunities will also be considered . The deadline for submissions is April 20 , with grant award notification by May 20 .
Upon publication of this research , the APDT Foundation will distribute the results of these studies via the APDT Foundation website , and to the dog training community through APDT ’ s magazine , Chronicle of the Dog . The APDT Foundation will also present the research to APDT for possible invitation of the researchers to attend the APDT annual educational conferences to present in poster or lecture format . APDT Foundation : 2022 Scholarship Applications
The APDT Foundation ( apdtfoundation . org ) is also seeking scholarship applications to attend the APDT / CAPDT Conference Oct . 19-21 at Daytona Beach , Florida . Foundation Auction
The Foundation Board is in the planning stages now for its 2022 auction . “ We are hosting the virtual auction again and it will offer amazing choices of items / experiences for folks to bid on ,” said Lisa McCluskey , the Foundation ’ s vice-president . Tentatively , the auction will be held Aug . 1-8 . More information will be in the SUMMER Chronicle of the Dog . The Foundation is a registered 501 ( c ) 3 charity and its tax ID number is 27-1498724 . All donations are tax deductible according to the Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations . Funds from the online auction will be used to support research grants , scientific and citizen science posters and for dog trainers / behaviorists to attend APDT conferences through various scholarship programs .
APDT Foundation : 2022 Grant Information
The APDT Foundation makes financial awards for academic research in behavior analysis , ethology , cognition , and training and behavior modification interventions . The proposing
