Buried within the depths of the final resting place of the “royal children, royal wives and royal mothers” also known as the Theban Royal Necropolis or Valley of the Queens lies one of the most speculated Ramessid royals (Oxford Encyclopedia). The 19th dynasty began a practice of burying royal females, amongst some of the most spectacular monuments is that of tomb 52 known as “Kings daughter, Great King’s Wife, and King’s Mother, Tyti” as referred to by the Oxford encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt.

Her tomb is a hot topic for debate due to the inability to neither place her within the royal family tree nor agree upon her identity in reference to her possible sons and assumed husband. In simple words: her tomb and what was found inside it largely speculates this Queens identity.

The 20th dynasty (1200 to 1100 BC) was reigned by Ramses III. Royal mortuary practices were defined by finely decorated tombs with several drawings, much like the tomb’s artistic style seen in Queen Tyti’s chambers. These included but were not restricted to; vividly colorful scenes depicted against a light background (Janet R. Buttles, 1908: 168) sometimes even referred to as gold because of its yellowish hues. Common in most valley tombs is the construction of a main burial chamber encased with several side chambers preceded with corridors.
