Cruising News
A number of our Cruising Clan recently
attended the New Members Welcome
Night and met an enthusiastic group of
people who expressed interest in getting
involved in cruising.
The night was held just after our
February First Friday Dinner where we
had a number of people speak about
their experiences at the Christmas/
New Year Cruise to Newcastle and Lake
Macquarie and the cruise to Sydney
Harbour for Australia Day, together with
a rolling slide show depicting the boats
at play and leisure. The winners of the
cook-off event, where crews were drawn
then had to bid for the ingredients they
would use in their dinner, were awarded
their prizes. Their reports were really
appreciated by the attendees and a lot of
laughs experienced.
First Friday Dinners are a great place to
meet and socialise with the people you
may be cruising with.
In fact our cruise the following morning
was to Castle Lagoon where we held
a progressive dinner with eight boats
rafted up and tied back to shore in this
spectacular location. 18 people got
together for drinks and hors d’oeuvres on
Mix’d Nutz then split to three host boats
for dinner then re-joined at Sleepless
Knight to round out the evening with
a fine dessert. Wines selected by the
guests were shared and tried and all
seemed to be well appreciated until way
too late in the evening.
We will be holding cruises to Towlers
(Morning) Bay on the 21st and 22nd Feb
then, following the March First Friday
Dinner (11th Mar - bookings are open) to
Refuge Bay on the 12th and 13th March.
We are planning an offshore cruise for
the more adventurous to Port Hacking
starting prior to the Easter break and
returning on the 29th March. We are
hoping that the weather will be kind and
allow us to set sail on the 21st March.
You will need to read the Notice of
Cruise and complete the Entry Form for
this event. A Short Coastal Audit will be
required. Please contact the sailing office
if you need advice what to do.
We are finding that we always seem
to be short of volunteers to lead or
coordinate our Estuary Cruises. If you are
interested in learning what is required
to assist us plan the cruises which are
for you we would really appreciate it.
Reception can put you in touch with
me or one of the Cruise Committee
Members.
