Cruising Report
A great end to 2016 the December First Friday was the first of our progressive dinners . This was a great way for everyone to catch up . Thanks Ann once again for the great organisation . The highlight of the night was Murray Glase singing . We did not make it easy for him with some microphone troubles but he didn ’ t need it anyway . Thanks Murray . Thanks Greg and Margret for organising the nature walk with the prize giving at the Basin BBQ that night , it was a hotly contested competition and great fun . Can ’ t wait for Greg ’ s next cruise The Christmas cruise to Lake Macquarie was bypassed due to the strong northerly winds . It was an early 4.30am start to catch the 12 bridge . The Lakes are a great place to spend a couple of weeks with great anchorages and sailing . Once again the Lands Department made it difficult by not finishing the dredging and as always Maritime came through . They lead us in and also met us at the drop off at 6am to lead us out . If only all Government departments were that helpful . 30 people enjoyed NYE and the fireworks at Wangi Wangi Workers . We also had the annual cricket match at Shingle Splitters this year which the boys won . The Nuts Cup kayak race was hotly contested . The prize giving will to take place at February First Friday . We are all looking forward to the Australia Day cruise to Bobbin Head and joining the Club for the Dicko Cup weekend at Hallets . February First Friday is the year in review with lots of stories from the Christmas , Clarence , Whitsundays and Sweden . There will be an estuary cruise on the 4th and 5th Feb and details are well underway for the Coral Coast Cruise 2017 . All the details you need to know are on the Club ’ s website under cruising .
