Newport Ladies’ Beefsteak & Burgundy
Club
Are you looking for a good excuse to have dinner out on
Wednesdays? Then why not join some of your fellow members
and be part of the Newport Ladies Beefsteak and Burgundy
Club. We are a warm friendly group of ladies who enjoys dining
out at one of the local restaurants. Our Wine Master selects
wine from our club cellar to match the menu organised by our
Food Master. We are one of more than 200 chapters of the
Beefsteak and Burgundy Club which was established back in
1954 in Adelaide, South Australia whose primary objective of
the club is to create an environment where members can share
their knowledge and experience of good wine and food and
fellowship on a regular basis. Member wine tasting and food
tasting events complement the regular Wednesday dinners. We
look forward to welcoming you. For more information, please
contact Liz de Soyres, the President, on 0417 294 117 or by
email: Liz de Soyres [email protected].
Important Reminder About Drinking on
the Water
Competitors are advised that NSW Water Police will be
conducting random breath testing of skippers and crew this
season (sail boats and motor vessels).
Don’t go overboard with alcohol. The blood alcohol limit on
the water is the same as on the roads - 0.05% ... but be careful.
The wind, waves and the sun combine to multiply the effects
of alcohol. Your chances of disorientation and drowning are
increased.
This goes for everyone - the skipper, the passengers and the
crew. Be aware, random breath testing applies to the operator
of a boat in NSW
Invictus Games Sailing Day
The RPAYC will be showcasing the wonderful relationship with
Soldier On with a specialised Sailing Day on Wednesday the 7
June in preparation for the upcoming 2018 Invictus Games to
be held in Sydney on the 18 – 29 October.
The Invictus Games aim to use the power of sport to inspire re-
covery, support rehabilitation and generate wider understand-
ing and respect for the wounded, injured and sick servicemen
and women.
The Club and it’s Members have supported IdS and Soldier On
in following the same initiative as the Invictus Games and it’s
been reflected into the community with this great opportunity
to really show the great work the Club has achieved in the past
two years.
On 7 June, volunteers and Soldier On participants will be out
sailing in the Elliott 7s on Pittwater in a practice course for
both Race Officials and Competitors. Similar to the 2000 Syd-
ney Olympics, RPAYC Members will be heavily involved in the
race management during the games.
RPAYC Club Coach Tom Spithill who has been leading the way
with the initiative with help from Members is really excited with
sailing event.
“ I think this event is a great opportunity for Members and
the community to come and see the
