and everything is rust coloured and incredibly warm looking but all our students are wandering back into CHERI What an awesome time of the year – not only is it Autumn the fold to once again begin with lectures. Although an insanely hectic time here on campus with our 2 hour lectures and power point presentations, the family feel of having all our “kids back home” is overwhelming… The 1st years have completed their first semester and an intense, rather audible sigh of relief was issued… What a change – lectures are different, exam structure is different, life is different! Now that’s not mentioning the fact that the Stellenbosch nightlife never sleeps, and neither did some of the students! After spending a brief in more detail, the 1st years come back into lectures, keen to learn more about what they are seeing whilst completing their practical training hours at the renowned Aleit Events and Weddings… IN CLOSING ten days with Shake and Serve scoping out the industry The 2nd years are currently split into two groups with one completing practical hours in some of Cape Town’s top restaurants and the other completing their first set of internships within The Aleit Group. To be a Chef is tough and the students are learning this first hand! On the up side they are getting training from the cream of the crop and some of the most secret recipes are being shared with them. While one half of the group are becoming South Africa’s next Master Chef contender, the other half are learning the tricks of the trade by being mentored by the best Aleit has to offer. This gives the students finally executed – the conceptualising, creative thinking, admin, ordering and all the rest. When these students CHERI an insight into what goes into things before they are re-join as a group for lectures the stories are going to be awesome…! FEATURES // 115
