Where it all began
Chronicles of Fanie Fourie, Project Manager
We are very lucky to be working in the events industry. A
rather bold statement, yes, but when you think about it, our
jobs consist of never ending creative outlets, unforgettable
sights and the chance to experience the luxurious lifestyle
exclusive to the most powerful and wealthy people in the
world. Now it doesn’t get better than this, surely?! I certainly
thought so, until I was invited to attend a meeting for an
upcoming event in early March. What our team perceived to
be a fairly large cocktail event suddenly escalated into the
biggest of its kind to date.
Those who know me are privy to the knowledge that I come
from a strong background of theatre, both as an actor and
designer. The prospect of hosting an event with a nighttime
television talk show theme caused a sudden surge of
excitement within me, which snowballed into a mixture of
ideas, emotions and concepts – with only 4 weeks to flesh
those ideas out into an event surpassing everything we’ve
ever done.
And so I started to sketch…
