J u n i o r A n g l e r s Letters Dear Editor My name is Tane Coomans. As my brother (Kian) said, we went to Sabungwe for school holidays! When my brother caught his 5.5kg tiger, my Ma said I was next! An hour later it all happened!! The reel screeched, I clicked it over and STRIKE - FISH ON!!! I almost got pulled off the boat! My Ouma grabbed hold of my shirt (just to keep me alive) and I started reeling. My arms were so tired, but I kept on. The fish jumped a few times, and it was so exciting! I think I took six minutes to get the fish to the boat, Ma landed it in the net. Phew! It was a MONSTER!!! 6kg!!! How awesome is that? My bro with a 5.5kg and now I have a 6kg! Happy Tigerfishing dudes! Dear Editor My name is Kian Coomans. I went on holiday to my Ouma and Oupa’s place in Sabungwe, Kariba. Well, my Ma threw in her bait, then said I could have the first run, and it went!!! I picked the reel up, clicked it over and managed to hook a tiger. It took about five minutes to land it after a lot of reeling and sweating! My arms were so tired, but my Ma said if I want to claim the fish, she was not helping me:) So I just carried on reeling! When it got close to the boat, I got the shock of my life, because it was HUGE! We landed it, weighed it and it was 5.5kg! Whoop, my record! Loads of fun to do everything by myself, and now I am officially hooked on tigerfishing! Dear Editor To Kariba this August we did go, fishing rod in hand and spinner to throw Many a spot we did find, so many times our lines fell in a bind Fish plenty we did catch with the odd Cray to match We love to look in your book of fish pictures one day to hook Please show the pic of our haul for all to see What a wonderful place Kariba can be Ant and James Manning, Harare V o l . 24 # 4 http://www.africanfishermanonline.com Page 9
