Junior Anglers • Letters • Dear Editor On a camping trip to Mana Pools, with my Ouma and Oupa, I had the good luck of catching a 48lb Vundu. I was using my tiger rod, with 20lb line and a Shimano 4000 reel. My Oupa and I were trying for tiger, when I hooked this vundu. My Oupa made me bring it in all by myself - it took about half an hour. I was getting very tired and very nearly got pulled into the water when I tightened my drag! I am very proud that I did this all on my own and cannot wait to go back to catch another one! Martin Visser (10 years old) Zimbabwe Dear Editor My brother Steven (aged 8 years) and I, Dylan Mckinnon (aged 11 years) were taken by our parents to Chirundu in January 2008 with our cousin Grant from South Africa who hired a boat for us kids from Tiger Safaris for two days. We went upstream with Skipper Alex on the boat, and I hooked into a 4.5kg tigerfish using a chessa fillet and proudly landed my fish. Then my brother caught his tigerfish which weighed 6.5kgs. Herewith a photo of each of us afterwards, we were very lucky to have both fish I.T.B. (in the boat!) Dylan & Steven McKinnon Harare, Zimbabwe P a g e 8 V o l . 19 # 6
