AMHCA is the only national organization that solely represents and advocates for the work that Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors ( LCMHCs ) do . Attending the AMHCA Annual Conference gives us all an opportunity to learn from each other and enhance our skills . Our members are a diverse and clinically gifted group , passionate about providing the best care . During the pandemic , our members have been on the front lines , providing treatment while also advocating on behalf of marginalized populations to help enact social change .
Adapting to Change

As the world has changed over the past two years , we chose a conference theme that recognizes these changes and conveys our optimism and hope about the future of our profession . Because our field is one of the fastest growing professions , we see this growth as an opportunity for enriched advocacy for the profession and for those who have experienced systemic inequities in various aspects of their lives .
The use of telehealth to provide therapy took off during the pandemic and is here to stay . Still , many of us will benefit from ongoing training to identify how to apply evidence-based practices ethically , while adjusting tele-mental health treatment to meet the needs of those who have been potentially harmed by traditional mental health care .
Our keynote speakers will address these issues ( see pages 20 – 23 ), providing options to navigate our future as a profession while also enhancing treatment and advocacy .
As always , you can count on a plethora of breakout sessions focused on clinical growth . Being attuned to social change , the conference provides ongoing sessions focused on enhancing treatment to underserved populations .
Other breakout sessions highlight the experiences of those from LGBTQIA + communities and provide opportunities to grow in clinical skills enhancement , treatment for adolescents and families , trauma skills development , co-occurring treatment , working with those who have served in the armed forces , ethics , and more . ( See the list of conference “ Tracks ” on page 18 .)
Together In-Person
After holding the conference online for the past two years , we are excited about resuming a face-to-face conference . AMHCA has worked to ensure that the conference environment is safe and comfortable , in addition to being fun and clinically beneficial . We are excited that our

in-person event will allow us all to resume opportunities to create and renew friendships as well as networking opportunities .

Your decision to attend helps to provide funds to support AMH- CA ’ s efforts to enhance recognition of the clinical mental health counseling profession nationally and at state levels .
