ADVISER MATTERS

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR OUR PROFESSION ?

The challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic have made us rethink many of the things we do – how we go about our daily lives , our jobs , our interaction with our families and friends . In terms of our profession , we have seen a shift in the way we consume information and services – both from a business and consumer perspective - and we have seen the value of advice really come to the forefront . As we started a new year , and begun to look ahead to a post- Covid world , in terms of how we may be allowed to engage with one another , we reached out to our membership and asked what your thoughts were for the future ; how you were feeling , what were your key objectives , and how you intended to operate . As a result of your feedback , we were able to gain a picture of what our profession may look like as we move forward , and are very grateful to those who took the time to complete our survey .

What are clients asking you about ?
So , what did we learn ?
Well , the good news is that there is a lot of positivity out there and the future of our profession looks bright .
Are you feeling positive about the future ?
What was business growth like over the pandemic ?
We wanted to gauge the general mood amongst advisers , and therefore started our survey by asking the simple question – do you feel positive about the future ? As you can see , the response is overwhelmingly positive , with only 3 % saying that they didn ’ t feel positive , and we will be reaching out to those firms to see if we can provide further support . Further good news came in the form of client growth , with 75 % saying that they had grown their client banks during the pandemic .
Client engagement With an increase in clients across so many firms , we were keen to get a feel for client engagement and to find out what the key things clients were asking . It was no surprise to see that Covid was top of the agenda in terms of its impact on savings , investments , and retirement planning which , once again , brings the value of good advice to the forefront .
