sympathetic to its surroundings. The beautiful
surrounds are justified to reconnect with
nature and soak up some warmth. I find my
time here holistic and empowering.
Local luxury ‘mukul’
Nicaragua isn’t known for its luxury resorts,
so my final destination in San Juan del Sur
has been it’s most highly anticipated and
talked about. Success speaks for itself as the
resort has swept the board with accolades.
Mukul, Mayan for ‘secret’ is a full-service luxury
hotel, golf and spa resort. Passing through
the colourful and quaint Rivas town outside,
I’m not prepared for what’s to come. Mukul
is the Queen in her summer palace. The

resort is teeming on my arrival, as a large
group of American CEO’s are on a company
holiday. The grandeur is apparent from the
driveway, elegant and manicured, every stone
is considerately placed. The doors sweep
open to a large infinity pool overlooking a
glorious expansive beach. Lounge music is the
backdrop of this decidedly upscale property,
with it’s own Nicaraguan cigar and rum tasting
