South Indian food is among my most favourite
and nowhere matches up to my expectations
better than my landing hub, Chennai. Having
as good as inhaled the street food that seemed
safe to eat, there’s only one place to dine in
all-out splendour. Multiple award-winning
Southern Spice restaurant serves every type
and style of South Indian cuisine. Succulent fish
curries, rich opulent desserts and sumptuous
surroundings award it the highest accolade.
Embodying the phrase ‘Atithi Deva Bhavo’ ‘Guest is God,’ nowhere is this more visible than
at Southern Spice. A typical Tamil Nadu breakfast consists of Idly rice-flour cakes, Uttapam,
a fried flour stuffed with peppers, onions and
capsicum, and Dosa, crispy wafer-thin sheets,
accompanied with spicy Sambar and coconut,
chill and coriander chutneys. As the region
borders the Bay of Bengal, it benefits from
truckloads of fresh seafood. My firm favourite,
Crab Claw cooked Chettiar style, is just part of a
feast platter served at Southern Spice. The Chef
here encourages guests to sample all corners of
