COMPANY would not normally get since it was an orphanage where we were, I mean they would have each other but would not have anything new to do and didn’t meet new people very often. So getting to play with new people and not feel alone was the main thing but also we decorated a lot of the place and made it possible for the children to go outside and play. Football is a very big thing over there so we painted a crowd of fans on the wall next to their football pitch and painted Winnie the Pooh on an outdoor play area for the younger children and we refurbished bits on to the climbing frame and made repairs. We also built a giant jenga set for them. Q: Would you say this experience has changed you views of what Mexico is like as a country? A: I would say for that to happen I would need to go deeper down into the country as the area we were in was very American, They used the Dollar there and not the Mexican peso. So I would say it would need to be somewhere more down to the south and away from America. Q: Is this something you would consider doing again in the future? A: Yes. Definitely, I would love to go again next year to the same place Opportunities like these come along fairly often for Cadets to countries such as Mexico, Canada and Kenya so be sure to keep your eye out. “Everyone within Kohima Coy are unbelievably proud of L/Cpl Gibson”
