BATTALION HOCKEY TEAM
SHOWS GREAT SPIRIT
By SSI L. McCauley
At the ACFA Hockey Tournament held
recently in Perth, Lothian and Borders
Battalion was there!
Our team consisted of Katie Sanderson from
28pl, Shona Borland from 28pl, Stephanie
Watson from 20pl, Amy McAllum from 25trp,
Shannon Rahman from 26pl, Zoe Stirling from
28pl and Caitlyn Stewart also from 28pl. The
team was coached and managed by SSI
McCauley and SSI Borthwick.
Two tough games in the first round saw our girls
take on Glasgow & Lanarkshire and Angus &
Dundee Battalions, and while L&B didn’t
progress past the first round, the whole team put
in 100% and did themselves and the Battalion
proud.

Speaking afterwards, coach SSI McCauley
couldn’t praise the team highly enough: ‘All the
girls should be very proud. They were awesome
and full of enthusiasm at both the pre-training and
on the day. While we didn’t win the girls put
everything into taking part and have certainly set
the foundation to build on for next year.’
The tournament was eventually won by Angus and
Dundee Bn.
If you would like to know more about getting
involved with more of the sporting activities we do
as a Battalion then speak to your Detachment
Commander or Company Sports Rep to find out
more. There are lots of sports we do which include
football, rugby, cross country & more!
