OPINION: DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT CULTURE!
The importance of the source and target culture for the professional of language.
We can teach using authentic content, like literary texts or texts from other genres, but written to circulate in the source language, adapting this text thinking about the students, objectives or the methods chosen. It may seem difficult, but the results are beyond achieving different uses for the same language, because the student learns more about different cultures and different points of view in this new language. For translation, knowing about both cultures involved in the process leads to more complete and effective translations, comfortable to the readers in the target language.
So, please, if you are teaching or translating, do not forget about culture!
