TOUR REVIEW
Pre-show as I looked around a packed O2 Arena, despite being a big Drake fan, I couldn’ t help but question if just one artist could hold their own in such a huge space for a two-hour concert, but boy did Drake prove me wrong on his recent Boy Meets World Tour. From the moment he kicked the show off with Still Here to bidding his die-hard fans farewell with Legend, he put his all into every track, barely taking a break.
He certainly knew how to please the crowd, not just by playing his top tunes that had everyone singing( and rapping) along, he knew how to woo us too, rating London a close second to his favourite city, and hometown, The Six
( Toronto).
With special guest appearances from fellow rappers Young Thug, Giggs and Section Boyz, Drizzy literally bounced his way around the stage and out into the centre surrounded by his fans, showing just why he’ s a world-class artist.
The lighting and effects, not forgetting the showstopping inflatable globe, of which made social media fame after Travis Scott fell off stage and ripped it a few nights later, only added to the electric atmosphere.
Now don’ t get me wrong, Drake proved he can absolutely hold his own and doesn’ t need anyone to enhance his performances – we already knew that from some of the songs from his current album where he rides solo – but there’ s no denying some of his biggest tunes have been collaborations. So you can imagine how the crowd reacted when he played a medley of his more old school songs featuring Rihanna, of which he speaks very highly.
Like Drake I’ m sure, we left the concert buzzing, thirsty( dancing all night in a jam-packed arena takes it out of you!) and hungry for more – we even contemplated buying tickets to see him again. But, and we know why, he’ d sold out the O2, every night, for seven nights! One thing’ s for sure we’ ll certainly be joining him on his next UK tour and Drake- More Life is out now.
This set list shows just how much the Canadian rapper jammed into his spectacular show – hats off to the man for managing it night after night: Still Here Started From The Bottom Headlines Trophies HYFR 0 To 100 Keep The Family Close 9 Child’ s Play Feel No Ways Over Worst Behaviour Blessings( Big Sean cover) Versace I’ m On One Up All Night Successful Lock Arff( with Section Boyz) Hotline Bling Hold On We’ re Going Home The Motto For Free( DJ Khaled cover) My Way( Fetty Wap cover) Back To Back Jumpman Whippin Excursion( with Giggs) Work Too Good Controlla One Dance Pop Style Know Yourself Energy Fake Love Legend
