From a bird’s eye view! By Catherine McSmith... aka... Lady Kate. A friend of mine recently said that she felt life got more interesting when she said yes to things she might not have otherwise agreed to; so with this in mind and overtly conscious that I’m particularly choosy when it comes to ‘all things Cobra’ I agreed to accompany my hubby on the 289 Register road trip around Scotland. A couple of days spent in the bone shaker, in close confinement with my nearest and dearest, not to mention minimal luggage, what more could a girl ask for? Over four hundred miles, across two days, with three hotel stops, way too much food, not to mention drink – the weekend was not for the faint hearted! Although for us as Warwickshire wanderers, it was actually 1326 miles, across six days, with five hotel stops from door 8 THE 289 REGISTER to door! At times the pace was a little too rushed for a southern softie like me, however, breathtaking scenery, Scottish hospitality and the camaraderie of fellow trippers more than made up for any frustrations.
