The 289 Register – 2009 Accounts, Treasurer’s Report. I took over the role as the Treasurer for the club in September 2009. Jan Coombes had been doing this job since 2004 and decided it was time to pass the responsibility on to someone else. The handover was seamless and I thank Jan for not only her help to me in taking over the role but for her many years of service to the club. It has been practice to publish the club accounts at the Club Annual General Meeting (AGM), however as not all members attend the AGM not everyone has the chance to see the accounts. In order that all members can see the accounts, I have decided to publish them in the Autumn newsletter, following the AGM. I will also update the members’ area of the web site with the annual account summary. The main income is from subscription fees. All remaining tankards were sold at last years’ AGM and there is currently no club memorabilia left to sell. Interest is only applicable to the reserve account and as rates were pitifully low during 2009 this amounts to little additional income in 2009. A major expenditure in 2009 was associated with the change in club logo. The purchase of a flag, flagpole and banners was done to coincide with the 2009 NEC event. These new club assets will be evident at the AGM in Silverstone and any other future event attended by the club. New club logo windscreen stickers have been purchased and distributed to 2010 members. I have included below a table showing how club income/expenditure has changed over the last 3 years with my initial estimate of the 2010 outlook. Membership has increased each year from approx 60 (in 2006) to 140 (in 2009). This is reflected in both additional subscription income and additional magazine production and postage costs. You can see that the club has over the earlier years had an increasing reserve. In 2009 this was reversed with expenditure greater than income. Based on the current membership fee of £15 and membership of 140, I expect this trend to continue. Our major expenditure is of course on the quarterly magazine which is now printed in colour and has received a good response from the membership. We have secured magazine advertising revenue for 2010 and this is reflected in the table. I also anticipate additional costs for club public liability insurance plus a cost for web hosting services.
