Talent Development Reimagining the Employee Experience Cox’s Purpose — to Empower People Today to Build a Better Future for the Next Generation — has challenged us to think about all aspects of our business in different ways, including how we reward and develop current employees and how to attract a best-in-class workforce for the future. It was also the inspiration for EXLab, a comprehensive, multiyear effort to reimagine the employee experience across all Cox divisions. EXLab is our way of rethinking our employee value proposition from the inside out, using internal cross-divisional, cross-functional teams instead of external consultants. It began with a workshop during which we took inventory of the current employee experience and constructed a “heat map” of how employees and leaders feel about various aspects of life at Cox. We then assembled project teams to address each facet of the employee experience, from talent acquisition to time off. Project teams will use design thinking and Agile methods to create innovative solutions that match our employees’ needs in each of these areas. Ten projects based on this work launched in 2018, with 10 more to come in 2019. EXLab is our way of rethinking our employee value proposition from the inside out.
