FOUNDATION
Building a better future for the next generation requires looking
beyond the walls of our offices and out into the communities where
we live and work. The James M. Cox Foundation, the philanthropic
arm of Cox Enterprises and our subsidiaries, is an important way we
help shape a better future for people and communities.
The Foundation concentrates its support in four priority areas:
• Early Childhood Education
• Health
• Conservation & Environment
• Empowering Individuals & Families
Our grant-making is focused on communities throughout the country
where Cox businesses operate. Our process is to respond to the most
pressing needs in our communities by listening to organizations on the
ground who have the best understanding of effective solutions.
The Foundation also aims to fund projects that are proactive, sustainable and grounded in
research. All applicants are carefully vetted for their financials, operations and clarity of purpose
before being recommended to the Foundation’s trustees. The organizations we support vary
widely but share the common cause of making our communities stronger. The grants
highlighted here are representative of our deepest investments within each focus area.
