Minecraft is the second best selling video game of all time. With 54 million dollars in combined sales and about 25 million players, Minecraft has become a household name for all types of gamers. The alpha version was released May 17, 2009 and the full version was released November 18, 2011.

Minecraft is an open world sandbox game which allows you to create and control your own world. It is playable on different modes. Creative mode gives you unlimited resources and abilities. Survival mode restricts you to working to obtain resources and fighting for survival. Hardcore and adventure mode are inherently similar to survival with a few changed aspects to make the game harder. Lastly, spectator mode allows you to watch the game and not interact.

The best part about Minecraft is the vast ability to create. The wide variety of blocks lets you build in specific detail. Real life buildings and even cities can be built to blockish perfection. Redstone allows you to make working machines. Even a beginner can create simple machines such as a piston door. For the more advanced players more complex machines like the elevator, calculator, and cell phone have been created. Minecraft truly has an unequalled creative power for a video game.
