The first time, I was there to have a steak, their specialty, a hand cut rib eye. Now when they say hand cut, they mean “imperfectly” hand cut…it usually fares on your side. Depending on the cook, you’ve learned to order the medium rare, RARE! If Robbie’s cookin, you can order it as you prefer it. From the first time I walked through those doors, I felt that unwelcomely welcomed feeling. Every time I revisit, I laugh inside on those that get scared off. Now, how do you compliment a steak, is to have it served up with grilled mushrooms and onions on top and a side of fries? I add grilled jalapenos, a baked potato with cheese, bacon, sour cream and lotsa butter. The topper is a perfectly grilled piece of buttery toast. Accompany to that, a very fresh salad with all the right fixins. Dinner is served!!! I happen to be a fan of a Philly Cheese Steak. I’ve travelled up and down the Coastal Bend of Texas and have found none that compare. Being as I live in the Fulton area, this place is a regular stop to bring me the pleasure of the best Philly Cheese Steak around! Now I know there are differences of opinion on what makes a Philly Cheese Steak a Philly Cheese Steak. This is their rendition… and what makes me love theirs. First it’s the beef, lathered up in a butter mixture and grilled to perfection. Topped with their veggies of grilled onions and mushrooms; along with green and red peppers. Again, I add the grilled jalapenos. Second, it’s the bun. A hoagie roll, butter, and grilled on the griddle to a crispy snap. (I’m getting hungry writing this!) Now the cheese, while everything is piping hot, they add several slices, throw the bun on top and by the time it comes to the table, the cheese has melted down through the entire sandwich. I agree with your thoughts, it can’t get better than this, but it does! The side of fries that come with this surpass perfection. Capt. Ted has a share in what comes outta the kitchen. He tells um: "cook the fries when ya start the sandwich, pull um when they’re almost done. As you’re prepping the sandwich, drop the fries again so they’re served crisp and hot”!!! Now that is one step past perfection!!!!
