Methodology and Population Surveyed
IJCAHPO developed and conducted the International Allied Ophthalmic Personnel ( AOP ) Salary and Benefits Study to obtain valid information from AOP about compensation , salaries , benefits , certifications , and other relevant information . The survey was conducted from June 2020 to September 2020 and reminders were sent to AOP who had not completed the survey .
This study reports data and current trends of the technician workforce . The survey asked about information before the COVID-19 pandemic as well as specific questions related to the effects of COVID-19 .
The invitation to participate was extended to the entire IJCAHPO AOP database ( n = 42,000 ). The final sample of respondents ( U . S . = 6,772 ; Canada = 182 ; International = 104 ) were considered for the study . AOP ( 11 %) who declined to participate or did not respond to the survey were excluded from the final sample .
When there were five or fewer respondents in the full U . S . Report for a given section , their information was excluded and replaced with NA ( Not Available ). For the Texas Edition , NA was used for sections with zero respondents . Since all survey questions were elective , data is missing because respondents had the choice not to provide a response . Pairwise deletion methodology was used to handle missing data . Due to rounding , and the ability of respondents to select multiple responses for certain questions , percentages may not add up to 100 %. All data is pre-COVID-19 pandemic , unless otherwise noted .
