FEATURES: INSTALLATION Richard Lawn WHEN OFFERING LUXURIOUS ne-dining to well-heeled guests, a restaurant’s location is vital if the establishment is to succeed. Strategically located at Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) in Jakarta, the Amuz gourmet restaurant is discretely hidden away in a corner of the second oor within the Energy Building. This internationally acclaimed restaurant, with its chic Parisian interior, has picked up numerous awards over the years, having become renowned for its exquisite culinary creations under the direction of founder and Chef de Cuisine, Gilles Marx. The dining experience is greatly enhanced by audio masking from a discrete BGM system which offers privacy for more intimate romantic occasions or high-level executive business dinners. However, a tiny Artoz is targeting high-end patronage blemish in the form of an adjacent bar, which attracted an entirely different kind of customer, ultimately prompted the owners of Amuz to acquire the bar for their own use. After thoughtful deliberation and discussions, the newly acquired space has now been reopened as the The stage and lounge Artoz Whisky Bar and Lounge. ‘The owners wanted their dinner guests, in addition to those patrons with a more sophisticated palate, to be entertained in a classy, jazz style bar, and that’s what Artoz now is,’ explains Shayne Thomas, i/c Peavey Commercial Audio Global Marketing, who was one of those consulted by the owners. The chilled, relaxing ambience is controlled via Peavey MediaMatrix’s latest Kiosk2Go system from its nWare programming software suite. In this instance, the kiosk control interface has been speci cally designed for a Samsung Galaxy mobile via the platform’s built-in web server running within a MediaMatrix Nion nE supporting HTML5 browser control capability over Wi-Fi. As a result the bar manager can control the music source in any of the ve designated zones from this device or indeed any other smart touchscreen interface with a web browser. The lounge area ‘The latest release of MediaMatrix nWare provides custom control interfaces in HTML5 with full colour graphics, real time meters plus input and output control of selected DSP device parameters and labelling elements, anyway you like it,’ explains Mr Thomas. ‘You simply import and incorporate your own graphics or photographs into the nWare design, drag and drop these into pre-de ned or optional resolution control screens, tablet or smartphone speci c, together with the appropriate controls that are then exported to a web server hosted on the Nion itself. The Kiosk2Go/nWare application covers all commonly used formats of graphic les.’ Having provided ease of use, ease of installation was also ensured by Swee Lee Projects, w hereby a distributed multi-zone sound system comprising of wall and ceiling mounted speakers is powered by a Peavey PV 1400 and MediaMatrix Octopower ampli ers. Live piano and vocal performances can be staged and for this a discrete, yet powerful HK Audio Elements ‘Big Bass’ active PA system is called into use with a mixed live audio feed from a Peavey 24FX mixer and integrated 24Pr 24/4ch snake cable and stage box. In addition, a Numark MixDeck Quad DJ station, recessed into a wall, can be retracted into position above the small yet functional A/V operator booth, which incorporates a custom equipment rack and live audio mixer when required. Video entertainment can also be provided courtesy of a ceiling-mounted, motorised 130-inch projection screen located above the stage, and a Panasonic projector that receives its HD signal via Cat-6 cable. The need to install multiple video cable standards and control the projector’s source input was avoided having adopted a MediaMatrix VSC-101tn. The unit allows optional selection of HDMI, VGA, S and Composite Video inputs via its built-in scaler, transmitting 1080p HDMI over Cat-6 cable to the paired MediaMatrix VSC51 receiver located at the projector. Elsewhere, a private room constitutes a fth zone. The area can host its own music courtesy of a wall-mounted auxiliary audio input for 1/4 Horizontal 98 PRO AUDIO ASIA July–August 2014 guests’ personal MP3 players. When connected, the input automatically ducks the programme audio at two Peavey PHR630 ceiling speakers, which can also be managed via a wall mounted volume controller. Finally, a sixth input has been added to the Kiosk2Go mix, allowing the Amuz restaurant to receive a feed from the bar, and vice versa. The integrated audiovisual and control systems in both the Amuz Restaurant and Artoz Whisky Bar and Lounge have been designed and installed with speci c intent and focus on being unobtrusively discrete with simple control functionality and the highest quality of sound. Add the audio and visual experience to the exquisite aromas and tastes prepared by Chef Gilles and his team, and a visitor’s senses can’t help but be stimulated. www.peaveycommercialaudio.com One of the private rooms
