PRODUCTS CS 0800 adds eight AES/EBU ports to Oratis Compact REPRESENTING A further expansion of the Oratis Compact intercom platform, Delec has unveiled the CS 0800, a 1U intercom unit delivering eight AES/ EBU ports that can be used either as digital interfaces to the Oratis subscriber units or as digital fourwire connections. When partnered with an optional Dante upgrade, the unit can also be used as an AES/ EBU to Dante format converter. Oratis Compact was rst announced in September 2013 at the IBC exhibition in Amsterdam, winning the Best of IBC award. Living up to its name, the system ts into a 19-inch, 1U chassis, though the CS 0800 takes the concept further, tting into a half-rack space. It joins its larger siblings, the CS 1624, which has 16 AES/EBU ports and 24 analogue four-wire connections, and the CS 1212 which offers 12 AES/ EBU ports and 12 analogue fourwire connections. Voice Technologies goes ultra-resilient SWISS MANUFACTURER Voice Technologies is furthering its reach into dif cult broadcasting environments with the VT500WA and VT506WA Water Adventure lavalier microphones, both of which are aimed at applications requiring ‘ultra-resilient, waterproof’ performance. The IPX7 certi ed microphones are based on the already popular VT500 and VT506 lavaliers respectively. Boasting heavy-duty capsule protection, the microphones are also constructed with a reinforced cable to protect against sweat, cuts and tearing and can endure temporary water submersion. Both models are omni-directional lavaliers with a frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz, a sensitivity of -59dB and an A-weighted noise level of 26dB. They are available in black, beige and white and ship with a windscreen and three mounting clips (alligator, tie-tac and dracula). Media functions are increasingly being consolidated inside computers, meaning in some instances there’s little reason to come out of the box. For applications such as these, Lawo has brought out the crystalClear virtual mixing console, a software-based control surface driven by a multi-touch interface incorporated into a high-resolution display. Removing all physical knobs, buttons, and faders, the console presents users with only the relevant controls and information, and completely hides everything else. According to the manufacturer, it’s as easy to use as a tablet PC, while powerful enough to manage complex work ows in broadcast environments. Normally at least a Cat-6 cable would be required to transmit the steering data to the loudspeakers, with a separate power feed also required for the speakers. The manufacturer’s solution is capable of transmitting audio, power, and steering data down the existing lines, allowing its beam-steering speaker series to be installed in existing environments with limited hassle. Ideal applications would be the renewal of an installed church or conference sound system, or replacement of an old 100V system where the drilling of new holes is forbidden. All that is needed is the Central Control Unit and the corresponding PPL loudspeakers to be connected via the existing twowire infrastructure. The front of the box houses a preset selector switch and USB port, allowing control of the system via the manufacturer’s software application. In other news, a single-channel version of Radial’s OX8 that can be used for general PA and installation applications is now shipping. The ProMS2 mic splitter uses an Eclipse ET-MS10 transformer equipped with mu-metal to shield the circuitry from exterior EM elds. The box consists of a -30dB pad, 48V phantom power, and a ground lift switch. The manufacturer has also brought out the next-generation of its JDI Duplex two-channel DI box, making it smaller, adding a rack-mount option and a 3.55mm TRS connector for use with laptops/tablets. The SW8 Autoswitcher FOLLOWING CUSTOMERS’ requests, Radial Engineering has designed a dual function control switch enabling a user to A/B toggle devices – such as its SW4 (a quadinput switcher) and SW8 (eight input switcher) – from a desk/tabletop position. The JR2-DT features XLR and ¼-inch jack inputs along with A, B, and mute latching switches on the top. According to the manufacturer, Cerebrum is unique in jettisoning the specialisation of most control and monitoring software, instead combining both functions to deliver ‘greater exibility’. Cerebrum is reportedly designed to work alongside a broad range of devices including routers, production switchers, servers, The Axon product lines receiver decoders, multi-viewers and waveform monitors. The system operates via either SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) or third party protocols. In addition, Axon has also introduced a modular master control named SynMC alongside a modular production mixer dubbed the SynLive. Both are intended to t in the manufacturer’s signal processing product line Synapse. SynMC is designed to allow users to more easily control automation and transmission hardware and software panels. In contrast, SynLive is a modular live production video mixer comprising customisable modules up to 4K. Its mix engine boasts two DVEs while two engines can be cascaded if required. Meanwhile, Synapse itself has been bolstered with the addition of an up/down/cross converter in the shape of the GXG400. A dual channel version, the 2XG400, is also available. Finally, the manufacturer is employing Emsytech Hummingbird Loudness Meters to add loudness monitoring and logging to its compliance recording and video air check system, Tracs.
