ShowMedia seeks out
bigger events with Turbosound
SINGAPORE: Having been founded
in 2012, ShowMedia Production is
a relative newcomer to the rental
production scene in Singapore.
However, it offered a statement of
intent to both event organisers and
competitors alike having ordered an
extensive Turbosound loudspeaker
system including a Flashline line
array from Consolidated Audio
Networks (CAN) in early 2014.
Comprising 24 TFS-900H line
array cabinets and 18 hybrid
loaded subwoofers, the Flashline
is a 5-way complete turnkey sound
reinforcement system.
The edgling rental house also took
stock of 24 NuQ active speakers
and 16 TFM560M low pro le stage
monitors in addition to a Flex Array
speaker system and a number of
PLM20000 ampli er racks.
‘I got to know Turbosound
through hearing its Flashlight and
Floodlight speakers,’ revealed
director, Andrew Chiam. ‘We have
had a stock of active speakers,
which has allowed us to cater for
smaller events, but we couldn’t go
to the next level. Having provided
the lights for a large production
Show Media Production’s Bernard Ng and Andrew Chiam with their
new Turbosound Flashline system
in 2013, we had no choice but to
rent a V-Dosc system as our own
speakers weren’t big enough for
the job. With our expertise and
contacts, we felt con dent enough
to cater for these larger events,
so we started looking at various
speakers. Ultimately we asked Chad
Bachelor from CAN to demonstrate
the Turbosound speakers and
instantly knew that Flashline was
the one for us.’
Impressed with the audio quality,
Mr Chiam and his engineers
Bernard Ng, Dinesh Kumar and
Kamal Ismail have also been won
over by Flashline’s ease of set up.
‘It’s a fairly modular system and
can be broken down for smaller
events, but it really is best as a
complete 12 per side system for
big dance parties and concerts.
It’s actually a two-man job, which
makes it very ef cient and we dolly
the cabinets out in fours. It ticks
all the boxes in terms of priceperformance and ease of operation.
The ef cient horn loaded design
produces a peak SPL of 149dB, yet
it’s virtually a plug and play set up.’
TAIWAN: After a recent relocation,
MoMo TV, one of the biggest
shopping channels in Taiwan,
decided to add three DiGiCo SD8
consoles to its broadcast facilities.
DiGiCo distributor Rightway Audio
Consultants worked together with
local systems integrator Acesonic
Technology Co Ltd on all aspects of
the equipment installation.
The new facility is located at the
Neihu Hi-tech Industry Park in
Taipei and broadcasts 24 hours a
day from three studios. The new
SD8 consoles are replacements
for the broadcaster’s old analogue
desks.
‘The SD8s deliver a much more
ef cient and powerful audio system
than MoMo TV had previously,’ said
Alan Wong from Rightway. ‘They
offer plenty of digital I/O options,
greatly improved sonic quality and
are very easy to use. Their compact
footprint is also ideal for broadcast
studios, while the reliability of
DiGiCo consoles is essential for
24/7 broadcasting.’
