Association’s Future
The NSCA Board of Directors held
their January 2004 meeting at the
well-attended Sport-Speci?c Training
Conference in Orlando, Florida. Your
board took several actions that will
insure the continued well-being of the
association and bene?t all members.
The following are the highlights of
those board actions:
• Adopted a motion to insure member
dues re?ect an operating margin
that will allow the association to
continue to grow and provide
programs to our members.
• Encouraged NSCA Special Interest
Groups (SIGs) to submit to the
Conference Committee one or
more proposals for presentation at
the National and/or Sport-Speci?c
Training Conferences, and to
consider nominating at least one
of their members for national of?ce.
• Charged the national headquarters
with conducting a study to
determine if a personal training
conference should be offered
prior to, after, or at the National
Conference.
• Charged the Executive Director to
work toward establishing a six
month operating reserve.
• Created a Student Assistantship
Oversight Committee

• Directed the Executive Director to
review the NSCA online learning
contracts.
All-American Athletes
Announced
• Adopted a motion that will increase
the presence of the NSCA as an
exhibitor at newly identi?ed
clinics/conferences.
• Decided to work with the Citizens
Advocacy Center to obtain candidates for the one Public At Large
Board member position.
• Charged the national headquarters
with conducting a feasibility study
to determine if the NSCA should
establish a permanent council on
employment.
• Charged the national headquarters
with creating a system to require
demographic information when
individuals join or rejoin the
association.
• Charged the national headquarters
with developing a proposal for a
national student chapter.
• Charged the national headquarters
with conducting a feasibility study
for the development of a NSCA
strength training text for the
general public.
