KWETB supports community based groups
to undertake Local Training Initiative’s (LTIs)
to provide a range of learner centred training
and related services to assist individuals who
are unemployed to enter or re-enter the
labour market.
An LTI programme is a community based
training programme of fixed duration
supporting participants in gaining
employment.
LTIs are firmly rooted in the community and
encourage learners to develop their existing
skills and learn new skills in an environment
that is tailored to meet their individual
needs. This approach allows learners to
develop valuable employment-related skills
and knowledge while contributing to their
community.
LTIs are focused on addressing the training
needs of economically, socially, geographically
or educationally disadvantaged learners,
primarily 35 years of age or under, with no
formal qualifications or incomplete secondary
level qualifications.
The programme can support training
for a wide range of sectors, including:
• Environment
• Genealogy
• Heritage
• Tourism
• Arts
• Sports coaching
• Catering
• ICT and digital media
• Healthcare
• Horticulture
