Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations (FEAFFA) 5.3 Participate in the Port of Mombasa stakeholders meetings FEAFFA through its appointed representative Mr. Geoffrey Tindyebwa continued to participate in the port of Mombasa stakeholders weekly meetings. The secretariat was kept updated on any issues of interest and shared relevant information with members. 5.4 Partner with FHI 360 to provide integrated health services to agents at borders FEAFFA finalized sub award negotiations with FHI 360 for an intervention on provision of integrated HIV and AIDS and other health services to customs clearing and freight forwarding agents at selected EAC borders. The initiative is supported by PEPFAR through USAID under the Cross Border Health Integrated Partnership Project (CB HIPP) championed by FHI 360. C. Challenges 2014 was a very tough year for the Federation. The year presented numerous challenges, some of which were critical to the continued existence of the federation as enumerated below. High level dependence on donor funds- The Federation was affected by a lack of constant flow of funds during the year especially to sustain secretariat operations in coordination of programmes. Delay in disbursement of funds for the last phase of the EACFFPC support project by TMEA affected operations seriously. Despite the progress made in generating internal resources, the challenge still remains. Delays in implementation of the Federation’s activities- Some of the Federation’s programs did not move as fast as they had been planned due to tight schedules on the part of the stakeholders. These delays particularly affected the training activities. ANNUAL REPORT 2014 Internal wrangling in some of the National Associations– Some of the member associations continued to experience internal wrangles and governance challenges. These affected overall running of the Federation’s programmes including composition of the new executive board. This also affected other critical activities like the board training on corporate governance. FEAFFA Board continued to engage with the affected associations towards securing solutions.
