PANAMA MARITIME GROUP
New Challenges for great opportunities
Panama Maritime Group was founded 25 years ago by Dr. Hugo Torrijos Richa in order to consolidate the services increasingly demanding from a growing industry. Let ´ s recall that in the early 90’ s, the maritime industry adapted its laws, privatizing its ports, systematizing its processes, developed its ancillary industries, consolidated registration and was required to respond to all the requirements set, with high-level professional services and ongoing training and certification.
So that after these first 25 years and always with the living memory of its founder; PMG is prepared to continue with new challenges that stimulate the economy, this time under the professional direction of the Licda. Magali Cedeño de Torrijos, President and CEO of PMG comprised of companies Panama Maritime Documentation Services, Torrijos & Associates and Marine Training and Certification Centre, which to date has a staff of forty employees.
Willing to continue the legacy of her husband, Dr. Hugo Torrijos Richa, today the attorney runs the boat with expertise, analyzing the winds of these new times: Implement policies to ensure compliance with the Quality System, making periodic reviews to the system to implement continuous improvements; closer relationship with customers and the entities involved in the development of the industry to follow and disseminate the consonant messages to the maritime strategy of the country and continuously train their employees in order to provide optimal service to the demanding requirements the international market.
Highlighting important achievements are those obtained by opening physical offices in China in 2002. Three years later, expanded offices in Vietnam and this year, 2016, the Maritime Centre Maritime Academy Yak Private Limited, accepted them as a Branch Office of MTCC, one of its training firms.
Lic. Magali Cedeño de Torrijos aims to expand maritime services and open marine training centers in Europe, for which there are implementing the relevant studies.
To develop this ambitious business plan, Lic. Luis Ramirez, Commercial Manager PMG, is constantly looking for opportunities to strengthen the group’ s presence both nationally and internationally.“ We worked hard on the development of human resources, seeking to assure customers an efficient and expeditious service, always maintaining the highest quality standards.” He said.
