The event’s keynote speaker was the Mayor of Markham, Ontario, Frank Scarpitti. Approximately 250 people attended the event in Toronto, which was sponsored by BlackBerry, Telus, and General Motors. T he Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC) has certified the International Society for Diversity and Inclusion Professionals (ISDIP) as a minority-owned business enterprise. The certification coincides with ISDIP’s two-year anniversary. In that time, ISDIP has grown to be an awardwinning organization with more than 450 members spanning 16 countries and five continents. United Airlines’ diversity spend increased 20 percent in 2011 and 25 percent in 2012, driving their diversity spend to over $3.5 billion within the last few years. United has a strong 2nd Tier initiative that drives its prime contractors to partner with diverse businesses resulting in an additional $500 million. The event honored other corporations and business owners and distributed more than $15,000 in scholarship money.
