(ISDIP) as a minority-owned business enterprise. The
certification coincides with ISDIP’s two-year anniversary. In that time, ISDIP has grown to be an awardwinning organization with more than 450 members

he Chicago Minority Supplier Diversity Council named United Airlines,
Inc., Corporation of the Year at its annual Business Opportunity Fair.

United Airlines’ diversity spend increased 20 percent in 2011 and 25 percent
in 2012, driving their diversity spend to over $3.5 billion within the last few
years. United has a strong 2nd Tier initiative that drives its prime contractors to
partner with diverse businesses resulting in an additional $500 million.
The event honored other corporations and business owners and distributed
more than $15,000 in scholarship money. Herb Stokes, owner of the Affluence
Group; Ash Luthra, president of LSL Industries; Juventino Cano, president
and CEO of Cano Container Corporation; Michelle Lechuga, president of
Office Space, Inc.; George Kinnison, president of Applied Controls and
Contracting received Minority Supplier Awards. Special Recognition Awards
were given to Mark J. Hands, supplier diversity coordinator at the Federal
Reserve Bank of Chicago; Margaret Klinsport, director of supplier diversity
at Allstate; and Patricia Hanes, who retired from the Minority Business
Development Agency. Additionally, Jay Patel, associate director of packaging
procurement at Kraft; Dotch Phillips, a group controller in capital projects for
BP; Yvette Graham, F
