The Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial
Guinea 2015 has come and gone, and
what a tournament it was! Despite
lack of goals, we spent the last three
weeks glued to our small screens,
watching Africa’s finest grace
the pitch.
We started to witness Africa’s finest
come to the AFCON party during
the knockout stages as the four time
African Player of the Year Yaya Toure
combined with new Manchester
City Teammate Wilfred Bony and
Gervihno to send Cote D’Voire to
their first AFCON glory in 23 years.
The hosts Equatorial Guinea made
history, reaching the semifinals for
the first time in their history. Southern
African countries were eliminated in
the first round as the West Africans
continue to dominate the Nations Cup.
Pre-tournament favourites Algeria
were knocked out of the tournament
in the quarterfinals by eventual
champions Cote D’Ivoire, while
Cameroon were sent packing in the
first round.
