In late 2007, the hospital was awarded $4.3 million in sales tax revenues that is being used to further update technology and patient comfort. The Emergency Department is physician-staffed 24/7 with one of the lowest wait-times in central Georgia. Among the services and programs provided are acute care admission for adults and children, surgery (all general surgery, endoscopy, and CT-guided biopsy); skilled nursing care (swing beds); radiology (including CT, MRI, digital mammography and ultrasound); complete laboratory services and a diabetes support group. The medical staff includes doctors in family practice, internal medicine, nephrology, podiatry and general surgery. The hospital built a new doctor’s office complex next to the hospital as it looks to attract new physicians. Also, the Central Georgia Health System in Macon has converted the old Walmart building on Lee Street into the Monroe Regional Medical Complex, which hosts Central Georgia Family Medicine, a family practice led by Dr. Stephen Taunton, as well as a number of specialists. And Forsyth now has its own pediatrics practice as Primary Pediatrics, based in Macon, is renovated and opened an office in the adjacent Plantation Hills Shopping Center for two pediatricians to see children.
