RECREATION Large boulders on Lake Juliette’s shore makes for some fun jumping in the summertime. Above, from left, Park Davis, Jaden Bankston and Conner Battles plunge into the water. As triathlons have become more popular, athletes are making Lake Juliette their practice location. The triathlon swimmers sign in and out at the campground office so that someone knows their whereabouts and that they have returned safely from their swims. One highlight for Cesar this year was catching a 57-pound flathead catfish. He caught it with a plastic worm in about 8 feet of water. After getting a good picture with the giant fish, he turned it into catfish nuggets. He said about a week after his big catch, a camper caught another flathead catfish about the same size. Cesar said he has seen an increase in kayakers on Lake Juliette this year; the brightly colored kayaks make a pretty picture on the water. However, one of the most beautiful sights is when windsurfers come to the lake and dance across its surface.
