images. The radius determines the number of pixels surrounding the pixel edge that is affected by the
sharpening. For high-resolution images, a radius between 1 and 2 is recommended. The threshold setting
determines how different the brightness values between two pixels must be before they are considered
edge pixels and are sharpened by the filter. By setting the threshold value to 0, all pixels in the image are
sharpened. The default threshold value is 7, but you may want to experiment to find the optimal setting.
Filtering out dust and scratches
Where: Channel | Image Filters | Dust Filter tab
Color Factory has a dust and scratches filter than can greatly enhance the quality of dated scanned
negatives or other sources that would otherwise require manual efforts. This is accomplished by changing
dissimilar pixels. When using the filter you specify the dissimilarity threshold and the maximum radius of
how far the filter should search for them.
SmartColor™
Where: Channel | SmartColor™

balance and contrast of images.
Enabling SmartColor™ in Color Factory
Since SmartColor™ is an optional module it must be enabled using a product key. To enter the product
key, start the FotoWare Admin Console, open the Help menu and choose Activate options… The
Activation Wizard will then start and guide you through the activation.
