Chapter 9:
Adjusting basic channel settings
Where: Channel | Channel Settings tab
By clicking the channel in the console tree and choosing the Channel Settings tab you may adjust the
name and priority of the channel, its input and output folders and the output file format. You may also
enable or disable the channel by ticking the corresponding check-box.
Channel priority setting applies to
Color Factory Enterprise only!
Channel name – Here you may change the channel name as it appears in the channel list.
Priority – When configuring a channel, you may set a priority for that channel. This way, channels
requiring greater attention than others may be given priority over low-urgency channels. On the Process
Environment tab you may set the Maximum delay in normal and low priority channels to ensure that
channels of lower priority are given sufficient attention as well.
Input and Output Folder – If you wish to change the input and / or output folder of the channel,
simply choose the new path here.
Output File Format – Depending on the file format selected, additional drop-down lists may appear,
allowing you to adjust compression or encoding settings. Note that when choosing EPS or DCS 1 or 2 as
output format, you have the option of choosing between a TIFF or PICT preview. While a PICT preview
is 24-bit and thus higher quality than the TIFF (8-bit), it is only compatible with Macintosh systems.
By ticking Use same format as input file, all JPEG, EPS and TIFF files will retain their format while
all other processing is performed. If the input format is none of the aforementioned formats, the file will
be processed according to the output format selected in the drop-down list.
Note that if you choose JPEG Copy as output format, any Progressive JPEG input file will be converted
to regular JPEG in the output folder.
