“Without a doubt, the first box that
has to be ticked is ‘trainability’. You
can have all the best bloodlines in the
world but if their brain and heart aren’t
in it, you are fighting a losing battle.
Trainability isn’t a hard trait to spot.
The horse has to have an inquisitive
