EDITORIAL
TUM HI MUSAFIR…TUM HI TO HO CARVAAN….WAKE UP SID!!!
…Goes the line on my iPod. After re-writing the editorial for the 5th time, I start again. 100
thoughts swirl around my fist-sized brain, searching for those exact words which might make a
difference to…some or the other person who is reading this editorial.
As I stream through this magazine in my hands, I remember the last few days of enormous
efforts put in by various people. This magazine is not just a compilation but also a platform for
students to portray themselves through different mediums..be it photographs or poems…after
all who said that architecture is just about design portfolios!!! Nahh…
I remember the first time I entered IDEAS office, buldi, I only knew
the word “Architecture”. I fixed up my NATA date and came prepared with my pencil colors,
with an aim to achieve the passing 80 mark score! There he was….my first friend at IDEAS,
Sandeep Pathe. Yes the General Secretary is my first friend for Architecture.
Days went on and on… Architecture never sleeps. And it doesn’t let you sleep either! Architect
Veepa Jariwala mentioned it very nicely about the state of “Bibhatsam” that never leaves you
on a Monday blue…but it didn’t leave me as I reached my higher classes. As I went higher in my
class, the lower grades peeked down on my report cards. Classes changed, subjects changed,
faculties changed, study patterns changed. We learnt the importance of being a team more
than being an individual. That is what “sahviryam karvaavahai” means.
Architecture never sleeps. And we are architects. That makes an additional responsibility for us
to be the patients of insomnia. And if someone says…they never remained awake for a “night
stay”, they are lying to you. And if that’s true…they never really enjoyed architecture and they
never will.
JURIES. I never really understood the concept of juries (and that’s why I never ended up
with a good one!). The corridors in IDEAS become dead spaces as soon as the teacher
announces that we have our final external vivas! Maybe, I can say, Stefan Matthew’s “Random
Reflections” is the thing I do it there, in the external’s cabin.
We all have that special moment in the college…that awkward moment, that sad moment,
that high moment, that cry moment, that “me "moment. Life at IDEAS is incomplete without
NASA(s) and Fiesta. When I look back, I feel my college life would be incomplete without ANDC
at Neeruja Gupta’s flat, Indian Arch without Adwait. Its impossible to be there, without my
best friend Khyati…and yes this magazine would be definitely incomplete if “chhutki friend”
Aditi Agrawal wouldn’t jump in it……
You see, IDEAS is incomplete without each and every member and element, be it the faculties,
be it the celebrations, be it the study tours, the submissions, the deadlines….
One Big Extended Architecture Family! This is IDEAS for me.
I hope all of you have a different story to share. I extend my best wishes to every reader and
hope they have a good time going through the magazine! Lastly I thank my teammates for
being so supportive!!!
“Tere liye nayi hai zameen, naya aasman…
Likh de hawaon pe koi nayi daastaan…”
…….the song ends and so does my editorial…
Cheers to TESS!
