Alumni Spotlight — Dyanne Rosado ’ 95

Building a Network of Powerful Women

By Chandra Persaud ‘ 11
After years of experiencing the benefits of mentorship and networking in her academic and professional careers , Dyanne Rosado ’ 95 , is paying it forward . Along with Judy A . Rice ’ 76 , Saundra Thomas ’ 10 , and Elizabeth Mindlin ’ 81 , Rosado is a founding member of the Women ’ s Leadership Network ( WLN ) at St . Francis College .

This opportunity for students and young alumnae of SFC was born in April 2016 . Following an “ Executive Women in Business ” panel discussion , hosted by the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs , Rosado and her successful counterparts desired to create a more lasting forum for the professional development of young women . They partnered with Katherine O ’ Hagan , Associate Director of Scholarship Giving , to establish a way for young women of the SFC community to form strong networks with each other as well as more experienced career women .

“ The WLN has truly taken on its own momentum . It ’ s pulling people from all over the St . Francis community , current students and former students . We are excited to see where this goes ,” says Rosado .
Even before joining the workforce , Rosado , who is currently Director of Human Resources — Lead HR Business Partner at Nasdaq , first experienced the benefits of strong relationships at St . Francis . People there , notably the late Brother George Larkin OSF ’ 60 and Dr . Arthur Hughes of the History Department , created a friendly , welcoming atmosphere that encouraged her thirst for knowledge . It was there too , as Student Body President during her senior year , that she sharpened her public speaking skills , which have graciously served her in her nearly eighteen-year career in HR . Members of the Office of Development during Rosado ’ s time at the College , particularly Ann Amore , provided mentorships that helped her gain footing in the financial services industry . For Rosado , SFC will forever hold a fond place in her heart . However , it also found its way into the hearts of several of Rosado ’ s family members . Also graduates of the College are her brother , Ernesto Javier Rosado Toro ’ 87 ; mother , Gloria Landron Rosado ’ 92 ; and sister , Maria Cristina Rosado Landron ’ 98 .
“ The College is such a special place . The people
We really wanted to do more , to give guidance and mentorship to the women who are currently at the college , recent graduates , through multi-generations of graduates .

there really care , and genuinely want to develop students ,” says Rosado .
It is Rosado ’ s hope that the WLN will add to the already robust education students are exposed to at SFC . She had access to a host of valuable experiences and opportunities outside of the classroom , and hopes the WLN will contribute to the development of wellrounded students who can easily make the transition from a student to the work force .
As professionals , Rosado says , “ Young women today must be confident in what they can bring to any company and be prepared for the roles they want .” She says one of the most important skills is knowing how to pitch about themselves in a succinct , yet memorable manner .
In the coming year , the WLN committee members plan to give SFC young women the tools to do just that , and more ! They are now organizing a workshop centered around building a strong resume as well as a series of talks about confidence and its important role in women ’ s professional lives .
In addition , they are setting up the first of several “ Power Breakfasts ,” which will give students the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with a professional in the industry of their choice . Most importantly , Rosado hopes that “ other graduates of SFC will volunteer to open their professional lives to students so we can serve as many career interests as possible .”
Rosado is grateful for the opportunity to give back to a place that has given so much to her and her family , and is eager to see the WLN take its unique place in the College ’ s history .
