What advice would you give to young professional women ?

Advising young professional women would be easy : Go for it !

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge to the generation of women behind you ?

The biggest challenge for the generation of women behind all of us being honored today will be filling our shoes when we retire . The group of ladies being honored in this magazine are smart , caring , incredibly efficient and most likely have a book of recipes that rival Better Homes and Gardens .

Describe a failure , what lesson you learned and how it made you stronger .

I

failed trying to predict the future . So many times you plan for something and life takes you in a completely different direction . I have learned to appreciate the opportunity in a new direction and take advantage of adjusting on the fly .
What do you think is the most significant barrier to female leadership ?

Working in a male-dominated industry has provided a lot of insight into different barriers that women face in obtaining leadership roles . Instead of being pigeon-holed into supporting roles , women have to possess the confidence to work towards any job they desire .

What advice would you give your younger self in one sentence ?

I

would always tell my younger self to travel more . Just go and do . I love teaching my daughter how to pack for different events , check bags and learn to read departure boards at the airport .
What was your dream job as a kid and why ?

As a kid , I always wanted to be on the trading floor at the New York Stock Exchange .

If you were to write a book , what would the subject be ?

If I wrote a book it would be titled “ The Day I Drove 45 On The Dan Ryan .” It would be about all of the inane things I have experienced in my travels .
