Jaimie Kerr Ellis began her career as a teacher at Community Christian School . Jaimie taught there for about 20 years while going back to college , earning a Master ’ s Degree in Elementary Education . In 2001 , Jaimie married John Ellis , In 2009 , Jaimie and John opened a used car dealership called Car Stop . 2018 brought the closure of this business due to John ’ s health . Jaimie spent the next two years helping him recover . In early 2020 , with John recovering , it was time to get out of the house and figure out what the next chapter of life would look like . The idea of opening an ice cream shop was planted while Jaimie was visiting a local shop that was closing . This idea became a reality on June 20 , 2020 , the opening day for “ What ’ s The Scoop ?”. The past 18 months have been challenging , due to the Covid-19 shutdowns and the fear that kept many people at home . The business has survived , thanks to friends and family helping get it started . Jaimie has a great crew of high school students who are doing a great job helping the business survive , while also gaining business knowledge and work ethic . These amazing students are like her own children . What ’ s The Scoop ? features over 50 flavors of hand-scooped Hershey ’ s Ice Cream , including Vegan / Dairy Free / Gluten Free , Sherbet , Yogurt , several Gluten Free flavors , and two No Sugar Added flavors . We also have Ice Cream Cakes , milkshakes , and will soon have sundaes .
