Tell us about your career journey . How did you get where you are today , and who / what helped you along the way ?

I

started out as a teacher in the primary grades , received a degree in Religious Studies to become a director of Religious Education , then director of Crossroads Halfway House for women ex-felons in California , Pastoral Team Member in Oklahoma and Texas , chaplain in the Bureau of Prisons and lastly , director of Connecting Link in W Terre Haute .
The love and support of the Sisters of Providence have brought me to this place and time . I ’ ve been open to each opportunity that providence has presented and have responded to it .
What ’ s an accomplishment of which you are most proud ?

I

am most proud of the growing positive attitude that West Terre Haute people have toward Terre Haute and Terre Haute people toward West Terre Haute .

These past 25 years have been years of growth for West Terre Haute . That growth includes the 20-acre new low income senior housing and single family owner occupied homes off of Paris Avenue ; the rehab of 37 owner-occupied homes in order to stabilize the housing stock in West Terre Haute ; keeping the West Branch of the Vigo County Public Library from closing ; the selling of the day care building to the library to enlarge the space and provide more programs with handicapped access ; Hamilton Center opening a branch in town ; adding city bus service ; town-wide trash service ; and most recently the building and funding of a clinic with a pharmacy . The Connecting Link Board and civic and community leaders and organizations all came together to support these projects .
What ’ s the source of your motivation ?

Many of the people who work at Saint Mary-ofthe-Woods College and the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Providence are from the West Terre Haute area . The community felt that it was time
