What advice would you give to young professional woman ?

Seek mentorship from a diverse group of people whom you admire and respect . You can learn so much from seeking counsel from others who ’ ve had different experiences and have worked in different fields or geographies . I believe that others most often want to support you and see you succeed , so ask for help . Surround yourself with people who will cheer you on and will also keep it real and honest for you .

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge to the generation of women behind you ?

I

think the biggest challenge for women continues to be seeing ourselves in roles where women have not traditionally served , which is nothing new . In order to make sense of the world around us , our minds naturally stereotype , to some degree , and put people into roles that “ make sense ” based on what has been observed or experienced around us . We all need to work harder to open our minds to new career possibilities , and what work looks like for everyone , regardless of gender , race , disabilities , etc .
What advice would you give your younger self in one sentence ?

Put your “ to do ” list aside and have a cup of coffee with a co-worker .

What was your dream job as a kid and why ?

I

don ’ t recall having a dream job as a kid , but if I did , it was probably to be a basketball coach or maybe even a professional athlete . I am a fierce competitor , sometimes to a fault . Some of my fondest memories

YEARS IN BUSINESS : 314 years
Why you chose to be a photographer I chose to be a photographer because I am always looking for a creative outlet and I ’ m definitely a people person . Ive been very blessed to have successfully transformed what used to be my hobby , into a successful career and am enjoying my location in the lower level of The Meadows Shopping Center .
Greatest Professional Achievement One of the things I ’ m most proud of professionally are the lasting relationships Ive built with my customers . From photographing babies at the area hospitals to business portraits and events , Ive made many friends along the way . I often meet people at their engagement , then photograph their wedding . After that I have the privilege of capturing memories for them as their families grow . I ’ m not too many years away from doing some of those baby ’ s senior portraits then one day THEIR engagements , weddings etc ...
Community Involvement and Passions I volunteer my services or work at a deeply discounted rate for many organizations such as Terre Haute Childrens Museum ( 100 Men Who Cook ) , Swope Art Museum ( Mardi Gras ), Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and FSA Counseling Center ( Culinary Queens ), serve on the board for the Wabash Valley Bridal Society to name a few .

growing up were spent on the basketball court . I was fortunate to be able to participate on high performing teams and work with amazing coaches who helped shape who I am today .
Where is your favorite place to be ?

Places where I can see for miles and miles around me whether that ’ s on a winding country road in Iowa , a mountain top , or looking out into the ocean where sunrises and sunsets stretch for miles across the water . If you were to write a book , what would the subject be ?

The book I would write would be around motivation and having a positive mindset with a title , “ Yes you can ! Why NOT now ?”

What ’ s your favorite song right now ?

You and Me ” by Dave Matthews has always been one of my favorites .
