‘ NEVER WEAR OUT ’ PATCHES

WORDS : SUZY QUICK PHOTOGRAPHY : JOSEPH C . GARZA

You never know when you might stumble across a long forgotten and hidden treasure .

The Vigo County Historical Society moved to their new home at 929 Wabash Avenue in 2019 . Months before the ribbon cutting ceremony and the doors of the new History Center opened to the public , a special discovery was made .
During the construction phase of the building ’ s renovation , an electrical worker found a small bundle of overall patches from the “ Never Wear Out ” brand that was manufactured in the very same building over 130 years ago . The Ehrmann Manufacturing Company , established in 1886 , was a leader of Terre Haute ’ s thriving garment industry .
