The Blue Angels
Tourism is big business in Vigo County , bringing in about a $ 30 million dollars annually . Visitors to Terre Haute can go for par at several city and county golf courses , visit a world-class bicycle trail , attend music and community festivals as well as watch several spectator sporting events .
Seventeen racing events are scheduled from May through October at the Terre Haute Action Track ’ s half-mile dirt track at the Vigo County Fairgrounds on U . S . 41 , with the USAC sprint cars , stock cars and BMX “ X Games .”
Celebrate and observe the total eclipse over Indiana on April 8th , from 1:30 p . m . to 4:30 p . m . Totality in Terre Haute from 3:04 to 3:07 .
If baseball is your game , Terre Haute REX , the 2018 Prospect League Champions , are the team to watch . The summer collegiate league season runs from May to early
August with home games at Bob Warn Field , 931 N . First Street .
The U . S . Navy ’ s Blue Angels flight demonstration team will return to Terre Haute for a new air show slated for June 1 and 2 , 2024 .
If you want to get into the swing of the action , golf outings are scheduled through the season at Rea Park , the Terre Haute Country Club , Hulman Links , Idle Creek and Mark ’ s Par 3 .
For bicyclers , the 300-acre Griffin Bike Park features 16 miles of trails . It provides a full-spectrum , destination-riding experience for bikers of all ages , skills and abilities . The park includes challenges such as a flowing trail and water ramp . The bike park is located next to Fowler Park in Vigo County , about 11 miles south of Terre Haute off of U . S . 41 .

Fun for the entire family can be found by exploring three stories of exhibits at the Terre Haute Children ’ s Museum in the heart of the city ’ s downtown at 727 Wabash Avenue . There ’ s also the Swope Art Museum , 25 S . 7th Street , known for its extraordinary collection of nearly 2,500 works of American art including paintings ,
sculptures and works on paper from the 19th century to the present . The major strength of the collection is American Scene Paintings of the 1930s and 1940s , with work by artists such as Thomas Hart Benton , Charles Burchfield , John Steuart Curry , Edward Hopper , Reginald Marsh and Grant Wood .
There ’ s also the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra . Formed in 1926 , the city ’ s symphony orchestra is the longeststanding professional orchestra in the state of Indiana . Visit www . thso . org to view upcoming events and concerts .

Terre Haute is home to Water Tower Estates , a family-run winery at 525 W . Springhill Drive that features a boutique with unique gifts . There ’ s also The Sycamore Winery , a family-operated winery located at 1320 Durkees Ferry Road , West Terre Haute . It features a tasting room and event center that sits on a beautiful 60-acre estate with walking trails and scenic lake views .
For beer lovers , there is the Terre Haute Brewing Co ., founded in 1837 . This brewery has a long history as being one of the original nine commercial breweries in the U . S . and the second oldest . The original historic building , located at 401 S . 9th Street in the city ’ s downtown , features a large tap room with a new bar and elevated seating area . There ’ s even a larger event area , complete with a second bar , for special
