LARRY BIRD MUSEUM Celebrate the legacy of basketball legend Larry Bird. The Larry Bird Museum is a must-visit for basketball fans and those interested in sports history. The museum is adjacent to the Terre Haute Convention Center located in Downtown Terre Haute. The museum is FREE to enter and offers a self-guided tour of Bird ' s illustrious career, featuring jerseys and championship ring memorabilia. The museum also includes neverbefore-seen interviews with coaches, teammates, and rivals, providing a comprehensive look into Bird ' s life both on and off the court. In the museum ' s center is a Shooting Alley where visitors can attempt a free throw.
Inside the museum, a massive mural peers back at visitors. It is 33 feet high, a lucky homage to Bird ' s number in his playing days. The mural is on the Copper Bar building wall, which is also 33
feet tall. It shows Larry Bird on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Visitors who can ' t get enough of Larry the Legend can take a short walk to the front of the Hulman Center to see a massive statue of him— the statue from the top of the basketball to the sidewalk measures 17 feet one and one-eighth inches. Bird ' s tremendous work ethic inspires us all, and his unparalleled contributions to basketball will never be eclipsed. Bird ' s name has become synonymous with Indiana State University and Terre Haute, and we are proud that the world knows that Larry Bird is a Sycamore.
