Charlotte Cornaton
As a sculptor and visual artist, charlotte cornaton’s artwork can be
presented as a spiritual and multi-cultural ‘Cabinet de curiosité’, a
mix of sculptures made out of different materials : ceramics, drawings, and video resulting in a organic, mineral aspect. Her artwork
comes from personal matters and each subject is interpreted in a
symbolic way and as mix of different cultures.
‘CHAKRAS’ ceramics and glass sculptures resemble natural crystals
and minerals. Inspired my Hinduism metaphysical traditions, chakras
are meeting points in the flow of spiritual energy around the body;
these sculptures are translations of her overriding concerns with the
body into a spiritual context.
Crafted with extreme precision, the ‘Chakras’ are not easy to grasp as
they imitate nature. Each fragment is an open reality that still remains
enigmatic, an apparition of the order of hallucination. ‘Chakras’ have
the appearance of natural crystals. Everything in the glass and ceramics pieces evokes the perfections and imperfections of nature, where
has worked the hand of the visual artist.
They represent amethyst, vanadinite, hemimorphite.. related to Hindu
meditation energy points. Amethyst, for exemple, is linked to coronal
chakra, in Hindu Sahasrara chakra : it is the ultimate chakra, the
closest to Nirvana idea.
