“The ceremony started very early in the morning and lasted around three hours.
It was not allowed to drink any water during the ceremony the get the full cleaning
experience.
The Shaman was chanting the entire time and throwing herbs and
natural aromas onto the glowing stones.
During
this very
exhausting
process,
the heat
and no air,
the mind
was floating
away and
everything
becomes
a little bit
trippy and
unreal.
On my journey through Colombia I coincidentally got
in touch with people of Hare Krishna. Colombia has
one of the biggest community of Hare Krishna followers. They invited me to participate in an ancient
Temazcal ceremony in the jungle with a Shaman who
is connected to indigenous tribes. Its a type of sweat
lodge made out of soil and its very hot and sticky . The
Temazcal is about cleaning the body and soul and
to reconnect to mother earth and its four elements.
The photograph was taken after the ceremony, showing a boy meditating on the ground trying to get energy from the earth and the sun.”
