Story of Tazzelenghe Wine About 200 years ago, vine plants in Europe suffered a disease called Phylloxera, many plants died and people considered some precious type of red grape extinct forever. About 60 years ago the great grandfather of the current Beltrame family, once travelled to a monastery on the top of a high hill for pray, surprisingly, he noticed a very old grape plant, growing on the wall of this remote church, that even though he is a wine expert he cannot recognize. Out of curiosity he cut a branch, brought it back to the Beltrame wine yard, and eventually grew it up. Several years later, from that single plant grapes grown, and when the government authority requested to wineries to register all the hosted plants still no expert could recognize which kind of plant was that. Therefore the plant was subjected to a DNA test. The monastery of Rosazzo where the Tazzelenghe was found. Az. Agr. Tenuta Beltrame s.s. - Loc. Antonini, 4 - 33050 Bagnaria Arsa (UD) - Fraz.
